General Intensive Care Unit

General Intensive Care Unit

The General Intensive Care unit (GICU) provides specialised expert care to critically ill patients. This care is delivered by a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team to patients suffering from a wide range of serious illness and conditions. The unit has a strong research culture and a professional and compassionate team which encourages clinical excellence and innovation. The regional trauma centre admits a variety of patients with major trauma injuries.

The charitable fund helps to support patients, families and staff by providing additional facilities, equipment or training to continually enhance the delivery of excellent care.

This can be for new items for the Intensive Care unit to improve experience of patients and their families. It also can be used for staff development, so that our team can attend conferences or study days to broaden their expertise.

Charitable donations can help us to buy additional items that helps enhance the patient experience. Communication aids such as interactive electronic boards are a very important part of this and we would like to raise funds to enable us to provide these for our patients.
