Abseil Fundraiser Spotlight: Leanne Hobbs

Leanne has worked at St George’s Hospital as a Maternity Support Worker for over five years and is now studying midwifery with another NHS Trust.
Alongside her studies, Leanne still works at St George’s as a bank worker and will be one of many members of staff from St George’s taking part in the three-day abseil event. Leanne will be joined by colleagues in Maternity as well as staff from Paediatrics, Major Trauma, Obs & Gynae, Physio, Pathology, Liaison Psychiatry, to name a few.
With the abseil in less than a month’s time Leanne said: “I’m feeling surprisingly excited, with a sprinkle of nerves at the moment.
“I was originally supposed to do the abseil at the height of lockdown in March/April 2020, so it’s been a long time coming. I’m definitely ready and prepared for this challenge.
“I may think otherwise when I’m 13 floors up though!”
Highlighting why she is taking part, Leanne said: “I have chosen to support St George’s Hospital Charity and take part in the abseil for George’s because I love St. George’s
“I feel very proud and privileged to have worked at St George’s for over five years, I’ve learnt so much from the best team.
“I wanted to be able to help raise money for our Maternity unit, in particular the bereavement ‘Forget Me Not’ suite for bereaved parents to ensure they have a comfortable, confidential, warm and welcoming room to be cared for in.”

Abseil for George’s is part of our 2022 challenge events series Do It For George’s. Over 120 people will descend down the 13 floors of the Pelican Hotel, located on the site of St George’s Hospital, over a period of three days in March.
