Councillors from the St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Staff Support team sought to bring a sense of identity to their new space.

Over the summer, our Arts Team were approached to identify and hang artworks from our collection in the Courtyard Clinic which has recently been repurposed from a clinical space to a staff support area. Consulting with the team, Arts St George’s selected works which brought a calming, unified feel to the rooms, which we hope provide support for both staff clients and team members.

Speaking of the project Teresa Mulvena, Lead Councillor noted:

“to have art in the therapy room creates an atmosphere of comfort, of a safe space, a welcoming space that is less clinical than the rest of the hospital so staff can drop their professional selves and their role of looking after others and bring their whole selves and whatever is concerning them.”

Having now dressed the walls of the therapy rooms, St George’s Hospital Charity will continue to support the Staff Support area, bringing brand new furniture to the environment, creating a comfortable and welcoming space for all.
