Christmas Day in hospital is not where anyone plans to be. But with your help, we are making it feel more like Christmas.

This year, with around 900 patients expected to be in the hospital’s care over the Christmas period, we asked for your help once again to make sure every one of them feels remembered, and we have been overwhelmed by your support.

Thanks to your generosity, and the incredible efforts of our community, more than £35,000 (and counting) has been raised this Christmas through our By Their Side Christmas Appeal, alongside events and fundraising activities taking place in the community. This support has made a real difference for patients and staff during the festive period.

It’s been an incredibly busy few weeks of fundraising activity. From selling our Christmas cards, carolling and bucket collections, to Santa Hat Day, our Christmas wrapping volunteers, and the incredible outpouring of gifts for our young patients, we are so grateful to everyone who has got involved.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our By Their Side Christmas Appeal and sent Christmas cards filled with kind messages and stories. Our patients were so touched and loved reading every one of them.

Thanks to your wonderful support, Christmas has truly come to life at the hospital, bringing festive joy to both patients and staff.

• Gifts have been shared with patients, and our brilliant NHS staff working over Christmas can look forward to a well-earned Christmas dinner.
• From festive crafting workshops to our resident artists’ serenades, our Arts St George’s team have been busy bringing festive activities to patients and staff.
• Our younger patients have enjoyed some extra-special visits. Members of AFC Wimbledon’s Men’s and Women’s first teams joined Haydon the Womble and AFC Wimbledon Foundation staff to visit our children’s wards. TV presenter Roman Kemp also dropped by with an incredible donation of toys and gifts from Edition One’s Cards 4 Kids initiative.

The impact of your support will be felt at Christmas and beyond, throughout the year.
