First look at new Wudu Wash Facilities at St George’s Hospital26 April 2021
Back in June 2019 we launched an appeal to raise funds for the provision of female and male Wudu Wash facilities for Muslim faith members both public and Trust staff where at the time there was no adequate provision on-site.
Together with St George’s Trust and the Chaplaincy Team we wanted our patients, staff and hospital visitors to be able to practice their faith in a safe and dignified way, ensuring the multi-cultural community the hospital is in is represented and protected throughout the hospital.
We are so grateful to the incredible community who came together, donated and fundraised over £16,000 that enabled this project and other improvements to the Prayer Facilities to go ahead.
The new facilities have resolved the issue of privacy, safety and dignity by providing a separate enclosed space away from general public and located immediately opposite the multi- faith rooms.
Although the Wudu Wash Facilities cannot be opened yet due to Covid-19, we are delighted to share the first images and look forward to when they will be in full use.
Thank you again to everyone that contributed from our donors and supporters to the incredible Capital Projects Team and the Estates and Facilities teams, we couldn’t have done it without you all.
