Fundraiser Spotlight: Arman Hussain Completes 2000 pull ups in 24 hours
17 March 2022
Arman managed to complete the challenge six and a half hours early at Anytime Fitness in Tooting, raising triple his target in the process. An incredible effort.
Speaking after completing the mammoth task Arman said:
“17 hours and 30 minutes - 2000 pull ups complete as of 04:30am this morning. I can't bend my arms, nor raise them overhead, or turn my torso freely but I have ZERO regrets.
“First and foremost, thank you all for generous contributions and messages of support - we raised £1897 for St George’s.
“This was more than triple the original target thanks to everyone’s kindness and support.”
Explaining his motivation behind attempting the challenge Arman said:
“I lost my dad a year ago as a result of complications from Covid-19 and a year on from his death I wanted to give back to the hospital who did so much for him and tens of thousands of others during what has, and still is, been a difficult time for many families.
“Standing on our porches and clapping for the NHS staff does not justify the level of care and service they provide us, nor do the pats on the back by the government and the petty increases in funding and wages.
“Our healthcare workers form the backbone of this nation and they deserve a lot more for their efforts than what they currently receive
“Over the course of the challenge I had several mental blockers which came around the halfway 1000 pull up period. But when you start with why (your purpose and intention), your WHAT and your HOW become a lot easier.”
