Fundraiser Spotlight: Natalie Garland's 100k
09 July 2022
Over the last two years, Natalie’s mum underwent two open-heart surgeries and due to complications in the second operation was placed into a medically induced coma for three weeks, spending a total of 3 months in hospital before she was well enough to go home.
Understandably, this was an incredibly tough time for Natalie and her family made tougher by the Covid-19 restrictions put in place. This meant that Natalie was unable to see her Mum in person for her entire 3-month hospital stay.
Natalie remembers the family liaison team with great fondness. They went above and beyond during her Mum’s stay, arranging for cards and photos to be shared and for family FaceTime calls through charity-funded iPads
Natalie knows that this challenge is going to be a difficult one for her but she is determined to succeed and to say thank you to the incredible staff who kept her mum safe.
We asked Natalie if there was anything she wanted to say to the staff in Cardio-Thoracic ITU and Benjamin Weir Ward:
“Thank you so much, your dedication, knowledge, patience and care is outstanding and you are an inspiration working in such challenging and stressful situations.
"Everything you do is greatly appreciated.”
Are you inspired by Natalie’s determination?
