Fundraiser Spotlight: Tom Fletcher
12 April 2022
Tom’s mum has a stroke disorder called CADASIL syndrome, and over the years parts of her brain have died through repeated strokes, resulting in a diagnosis of vascular dementia and deteriorating to a point where she is now in a nursing home at 59 years old.
However, Tom is: “Incredibly grateful to the team at St George's for their work on CADASIL Syndrome; this is an affliction that has plagued my family and hit my Mum hardest of all, so the prospect that others in the future may not suffer as my family has meant a lot to me.”
Therefore, whilst he continues to support his mum as much as he can, Tom wanted to give back to St George’s, as the place where his Auntie and Grandma were diagnosed with CADASIL and as the hospital has a research project on the condition, through raising money for the Neurology Department.
Tom said: “I've participated in many physical challenges throughout my life, but this will undoubtedly be the toughest of them all, so please do donate to this brilliant cause. Thank you.”
We are so grateful for Tom taking on this huge challenge for St George’s Hospital Charity, you can support Tom through his JustGiving page below:
Or maybe you’d like to take on a similar challenge and run the London to Brighton in September.
