Introducing our new Resident Artist – Emily Stapleton Jefferis!
28 November 2022
Our Arts Team are thrilled to introduce Emily Stapleton Jefferis, the newest member of our Resident Artist team. Visiting the St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust sites one day a week each, the three artists work with patients, staff and visitors to facilitate create activities and positively impact their time in the healthcare setting.
Emily is a visual artist working with drawing, printmaking and ceramics. Along with the human body, she looks to inspiration from the botanical and geological, zooming in on the overlooked or unseen, extracting the wonder, beauty and strangeness that exists just out of sight.
An important part of Emily’s practice is working with others, and she loves sharing her knowledge and learning from those with whom she is engaging. Emily has previously been the Family Artist in Residence at Camden Arts Centre and regularly delivers activities as part of the family programme at Milton Keynes Art Gallery, as well as facilitating ceramic sessions at Workshop 305, a specialist ceramics studio for adults with disabilities in Wimbledon. Alongside her participatory work, she has exhibited internationally.
We're super excited to see what Emily gets up to during her time with us as a Resident Artist. A session with Emily might involve making drawing tools, mark-making to music, or pressing leaves into clay.
From the New Year, she will be on site every Thursday from 10 – 5pm. If you would like Emily to visit your ward or department, please email arts@stgeorges.nhs.uk and we will do our best to facilitate this.
