Chief Nurse signs up for charity skydive

27th June 2017

On Saturday 22 July (weather permitting!), St George's Chief Nurse Avey Bhatia will be taking part in a skydive to raise money for St George's Hospital Charity.

Avey will be doing a tandem jump from 13,000 feet (about two miles high), falling at 120mph and reaching 5,000 feet in just 40 seconds. Then it's a leisurely descent back to terra firma after the instructor opens their parachute!

Avey told us she's looking forward to the jump but with a hint of trepidation: "I first signed up for the jump in January, but when I re-joined St George's I thought it'd be great to raise some money for our charity. I've never done anything like this before and I'm not much of an adrenaline junkie so there's a bit of nerves involved.

"Despite the nerves I am looking forward to the jump, and to raising money at the same time. It's a win-win. So please do donate if you're able to."
