Turning Artwork Into Toys

2nd August 2017

Last week one of the staff from Willow’s Pre-School in Collier’s Wood visited St George’s to make a special delivery from the nursery; hundreds of pounds worth of brand new toys for our children’s wards. The much needed toys were bought with money that had been raised by the nursery earlier this year. Pre-schoolers painted pictures which were then displayed in a nearby café in the area. Family members and customers soon snapped them up - often paying more than the set price in order to give more to our cause.

Two members of the Specialist Play Team came down to the fundraising office to receive the gifts. There were so many they needed a trolley to take them up to the wards! Hazel, one of our Play Specialists, said: “The Play Team are absolutely delighted with the lovely donation from the children at Willow’s Pre School. It will make a huge difference to our patients. The toys will go towards creating a child-friendly and fun environment which is so important in making their experience in hospital better.”

We would like to say a huge thank you to the staff, children, and families of Willow’s Pre-School for their incredible generosity.
