Royal Albert Hall collection total

9th January 2018

St George’s Hospital Charity would like to thank everyone that came down and helped us at our Royal Albert Hall Christmas collections with Paul's Cancer Support Centre.

We managed to raise an amazing £16,703.64.

Volunteer Debi Paynter said:  “I had a great time. We were very touched by people's generosity and how many people spoke to us and told us how they have been affected by cancer. It was much more than standing by the exit with a bucket collecting money. It raised awareness and showed people that there are others out there who care. It was good to be able to give something back. We hope to be there next year!”

Our collections raised money to help cancer patients in south west London, including supporting our Bedside Music programme, which seeks to provide live music at the bedsides of our long stay patients. The programme makes a significant and positive difference to patients who are in hospital for weeks and sometimes even months. Professional musicians and singers will spend time at the bedside of patients, performing and engaging in conversation with patients.

The programme provides a unique experience for patients, allowing them to unwind and relax or sing and clap along to their chosen songs.  It is this kind of experience whilst in hospital, that makes hospital stays easier on patients.

So again thank you to all of our volunteers and our supporters that continue to help, our work is only achievable with you!
