A new entertainment unit for Paediatric A&E

3rd January 2019

Over the Christmas period we were delighted to unveil a brand new, custom-designed entertainment unit for our Paediatric Emergency Department.

Thanks to Merlin’s Magic Wand, children in our incredibly busy A&E will benefit from hours of entertainment and much needed distraction as they wait for procedures. These Merlin’s Magic Wand mobile units are specially designed to entertain children who are too ill to leave their hospital bed or ward. The unit makes fun accessible and interactive through playing on the X Box, being creative with LEGO and DUPLO, or playing board games with family or friends. It will make a massive difference to St George’s Emergency Department which provides 24-hour emergency care, 365 days a year, and sees around 160,000 patients every year.

This unit was donated to St George’s Hospital as part of Merlin’s Magic Wand's 10 year birthday celebrations. Merlin's Magic Wand is a children's charity that supports children facing challenges of serious illness, disability or adversity around the world.
