Our Brighton Marathon Runners: Joanna Harrison

4th January 2019

Joanna Harrison and three members of her family are taking part in the Brighton Marathon on 14 April 2019 to raise money for St George’s Hospital Charity, which supports St George’s Hospital, Queen Mary’s Hospital and community services across south west London.

In the spring of 2016 Joanna’s father had double bypass heart surgery at St George’s Hospital due to a congenital condition. Joanna is running the marathon to say thank you to the hospital staff who provided amazing care throughout her father’s treatment:

‘St George’s Hospital gave my father the utmost care and attention, as well as supporting my mother, brother and me throughout what was an anxious time for our family. In turn I would like to show my deepest thanks and gratitude to St George's and all its staff by raising as much money as possible for the hospital's cause in support of their continued work and care, for all patients & their families.’

To prepare for the Brighton Marathon Joanna has an impressive training programme leading up to the event. So far, they have already completed a 15K Rough Runner, a Full Tough Mudder and the Forest of Dean Half Marathon! Next on the agenda for Joanna is a lot more running and fundraising! Check out her JustGiving page to donate and keep up-to-date on her progress!
