'Team Thrombosis' take on the London 10k!

23rd July 2019

On Sunday 21 July an incredible staff team took on the London 10k, fundraising to help improve the thrombosis services here at St George’s. Our thrombosis staff provide incredible support and care to all patients who are at risk of, or are suffering from, venous thromboembolism (VTE): a condition where blood clots occur in your deep veins found in your legs, groin or arms.

#TeamGeorges was made up of both individuals trying to achieve their personal best and first-time runners who were aiming to prove to themselves that they could run 10k. During the race they showed true St George’s team work, pairing themselves so that the less experienced runners were always with a stronger runner to help keep them motivated and make sure that everyone crossed the finish line!

So far the team has raised £495! The money they have raised will be going towards improving the thrombosis services by helping to secure items that are ‘over and above’ what is normally provided by the NHS, from new medical equipment to staff training and much more.
