We welcome Arati Patel to St George's Hospital Charity

26th November 2019

Arati is our new Finance Director at St George’s Hospital Charity.

She is responsible for the oversight of the financial, accounting and operational aspects of the charity, carrying out the vital behind-the-scenes work that keeps the whole charity running smoothly.

Arati says:

“I am a qualified accountant and have been in the charity sector for over 25 years, having previously worked for Marie Curie and Bart’s Charity. Whilst working at Marie Curie, I helped oversee significant income growth. They managed to build new hospices, a community nursing service, education services and shops.”

“After 16 years in one place, I wanted to try something different so I joined Bart’s Trust which is a grant-giving charity. I was at Bart’s for 12 years. The grants were £4-5 million when I started and when I left they were around £30 million.”

“In March 2019 I decided I needed to travel and went away to South America alone for 6 weeks. I travelled through Chile, Patagonia, Argentina and Bolivia. My plan was to take an entire year out.”

“When the job came up at St George’s, I knew I wanted the role. I wanted to transfer my knowledge and experience to St George’s. I am also a charity Trustee of CFG (Charity Finance Group) and a pension fund Trustee. It’s fantastic for networking; you can keep up to date with what’s happening in the sector.”

“I plan to continue travelling alongside my role and have already booked to go to Colombia in December”.
