World Cancer Day - We speak to the St George's Macmillan team

3rd February 2021

Today is World Cancer Day and to mark the date we caught up with Estelle Le Galliot, Macmillan Information and Support Centre Manager.

Estelle has been working at St George’s Hospital since October 2016 and works closely alongside St George’s Hospital Charity. We got in touch and asked her a few questions!

What do you love about working at St George’s?
I work with a fantastic team of passionate professionals, I have the privilege to support people in one of the most vulnerable times of their life and make a difference.

How has the work of St George’s Hospital Charity influenced your role?
I have been able to think outside the box of traditional support given and deliver an additional meaningful layer to the holistic care we thrive to offer to our patients. The Cancer Treatment Comfort Kits project is a perfect example which would not have been possible without the kind support of SGH Charity.

Note: Our Chemotherapy Comfort Kits have a new name as they are being offered to patients undergoing various cancer treatments. You can read more about the Cancer Treatment Comfort Kits here.

Why are you currently raising funds to support the Cancer Appeal? What does it mean to you and why?
Sadly like many, I have family members who have or had a cancer diagnosis and some have died back in France. Living abroad has meant I have not been able to be there for them as much I wish. So fundraising for the #CancerAppeal is my own way to support the cancer care given to the people whose family cannot be there for them.

We want to take the time to thank Estelle for her ongoing support and fundraising for St George’s Hospital Charity for which we are very grateful.
