Fundraiser Emily takes on the virtual Vitality London 10k again!

24th May 2021

We have three amazing runners taking part in the virtual Vitality London 10,000 for Team Georges this weekend and one of them is Emily, who is running in memory of her dad.

Emily’s dad was at St George’s Hospital earlier this year being treated for COVID-19 but sadly passed away in February. Emily said that ‘Meeting the hospital staff and finding out more about the care that they have been giving patients really inspired me. They are such selfless people and so many small acts of kindness they have been carrying out for families means so much during what can be the most difficult time for many.’

Although Emily had taken part in the virtual Vitality London 10,000 last year, she was so inspired, Emily decided to take the race on again this year for St George’s Hospital Charity.

She added that taking up running to train for the run during lockdown has been great for her mental health and as she is an asthmatic and has recovered from COVID-19 herself she has enjoyed feeling better every time she goes out for a run. Her highlights so far have been hitting her fundraising target and getting her St Georges Running vest and her first ever running number, which she is keen on framing once the race is complete!

Emily’s fundraising has been amazing, and the money raised really means a lot to her. Emily said, ‘Fundraising for something so personal adds to the importance when you fundraise, and every penny raised means so much more to me knowing that it is going to such a fantastic cause’.

Thank you Emily!
