Welcoming our new Director of Fundraising - Sarah McCullough!

11th June 2021

We are thrilled to welcome our new Director of Fundraising, Sarah McCullough, to the team this week.

Sarah is responsible for looking after the wider fundraising team, including our Major Gifts and Corporate, Trusts and Foundations and Community and Events fundraising. Sarah will be leading the team to accelerate the growth of our fundraising to achieve long term, sustainable income for St George’s Hospital Charity.

Sarah comes from a hugely impressive background, starting in advertising straight after university and moving into the charity sector not long after this. She started in fundraising as a Corporate Fundraiser at Diabetes UK before moving to become the Head of Corporate Fundraising at JDRF UK, the Type 1 Diabetes charity. After this, Sarah moved to London’s Air Ambulance where she led all activity across Philanthropy, Partnerships and Events for 7 years. Sarah’s biggest achievements in this role were expanding the team from 4 to 11 people who raised an incredible £2 million in London’s Air Ambulance’s 30th Anniversary Year. She added, ‘My highlights at London’s Air Ambulance were seeing years of hard work come together for some really pivotal moments such as our 2019 Gala which was attended by HRH The Duke of Cambridge, being beneficiaries of the ICAP Charity Day in 2016 which resulted in full funding of our Rapid Response Car fleet for three years and leading the planning of a major appeal to fund two new emergency medical helicopters for London.’

Sarah has always worked in healthcare fundraising, working closely with clinicians and researchers to raise vital funds that will impact the lives of patients. So when the job opportunity came up at St George’s Hospital Charity, it made perfect sense to go for it. Living locally in Balham and Streatham for years, she had her children at St George’s and knows how vital the services available have been to her family and friends. It was ideal to be able to take the next step into a charity that means so much to her and that she has a personal relationship with. Sarah said, ‘It was the opportunity to take the next step in my career at a time that is hugely important for St George’s Hospital Charity. I hope to add value to St George’s Hospital Charity, making the next big leap in our development by harnessing all of the opportunities available to us and building on the brilliant work already done. I am really excited to work with the team, our Trustees and amazing supporters to achieve this.’

Welcome to the team Sarah!
