Grant Impact Story: Charity funds Trust Headsets during COVID-19 Pandemic

6th September 2021

Thanks to our supporters, St George’s Hospital Charity were able to fund 1000 Headsets for our ICT departments to distribute across the trust and support the much-needed new ways of working.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit remote working and/or socially distanced working on site became paramount. As a result, our ICT department had to rapidly adjust and deploy Microsoft (MS) Teams to all staff to enable virtual meetings which have been used for both clinical and operational reasons.

Many staff did not have access to headphones, speakers, and microphones for these virtual meetings and, as a result of our supporter donations, we were able to fund 1000 Headsets that improved staff access to the service.

Liz Powell, one of our very own ICT Project Managers, said as a result of our supporters “clinical and operational staff across the whole trust could easily join virtual meetings. In a recent month, 10,000 virtual meetings were arranged using MS Teams which shows how heavily virtual meetings are now relied upon.”

Overall your donations meant we were able to adapt and support in ways we could not have foreseen by providing a safer yet productive working environment for countless members of staff, and enabling the virtual patient consultations and groups sessions to go ahead, which directly improved patient care. We cannot thank you enough for your support!
