As today is the last day of National Volunteers Week, we wanted to take this opportunity to hear from two of our wonderful volunteers, Alan and Nicky (pictured) on why they volunteer for St George's Hospital Charity and what they enjoy about their volunteering.

lan, who has been with us for a phenomenal six years now, said: "I started to volunteer for SGHC as I really wanted to give something back to the community I live in and in a different sector to what I worked in throughout my career.

"There aren't any two weeks the same, that's for certain, and in my time here I have met some truly inspirational people and really enjoyed learning a lot of things I have never learnt before."

Nicky, who has been volunteering with us for just under three years now, also commented: "As a people person, it is really nice to be in a large community of people and it is a great opportunity to meet different people.

"My background is in the arts, so I also love being able to share my skills through the arts initiatives that are run at the hospital."
