One-Year Update: St George's Hospital Charity Funds Groundbreaking Hand Arthritis Research
16 May 2024
Under the guidance of hand surgeons Ms Umarji and Ms Cerovac, Kuti meticulously analysed patient samples, correlating tissue changes with pain profiles and imaging results.
This research aims to improve personalised care by elucidating the relationship between tissue pathology and pain perception in hand OA.
The HARTS initiative has significantly progressed in refining diagnostic precision and expanding treatment options through comprehensive analysis integrating imaging and pathological findings.
Reflecting St George's Hospital Charity's commitment to advancing medical research, the charity awarded an additional £4,274 in February to extend Kuti's research by three months, underscoring the impact of charitable funding on healthcare innovation.
Katy Vaughan, Chief Executive of St George’s Hospital Charity, said: "Supporting innovative research like the Hand ARThritis Study is central to our mission at St George's Hospital Charity.
“We are proud to fund work that has the potential to significantly improve the quality of life for patients with hand osteoarthritis."
