St George's Hospital Charity secures tablets to connect people during the COVID-19 pandemic

We are so happy to have funded tablets to facilitate communication between patients and their relatives, and so much more, throughout the pandemic.

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are continuously amazed at how St George’s staff continue to go above and beyond in looking out for those in their care.

The palliative care team had the heart-breaking realisation that the isolation requirements of coronavirus meant that patients cannot be together with their loved ones, even as life is drawing to an end. Therefore they set out to overcome the upsetting effects of separation in any small way they could.

They approached St George’s Hospital Charity to put out a call for tablets to allow patients and their families to see each other through skyping. The response has been immediate; we are so pleased to have secured 20 tablets to connect people during this very difficult and critical time. In addition, other hospital teams have also welcomed the idea of virtual talking to boost the spirits of many other patients.

Our thanks goes, as always, to our quick thinking hospital staff and our donors, including the amazing kindness of the team at Cardano UK who were among the first to hear our call for tablets and generously donated 15 iPads to support the cause!
