As part of Volunteers Week 2020 we have been catching up with some of our volunteers about why they got involved. We hope you will join us in taking the time to say a big thank you to all those who have offered up their time to support St George’s Hospital Charity, we are so grateful to each and every one of you.

Today, we meet Philipp, a student who volunteers within the A&E Department, as well as supporting St George’s Hospital Charity.

Philipp has been volunteering for 1 year and 6 months. As part of his time spent volunteering in the A&E department he spends time with patients, helps explain the process of the Emergency Department along with helping transportation of patients to different wards. Philipp has also been supporting Covid Response during the crisis.

We asked Philipp why do you volunteer?

“I volunteer to make a positive difference in my community and apply my logistic knowledge, when working in the Covid Response group.”

And what is the most rewarding part of volunteering for you?

“The most rewarding part is to see the happiness and gratefulness when I deliver gift bags to the staff members.”
