Volunteers Week Spotlight: Nicky Simpson

Volunteers are the backbone of any charitable organisation, selflessly dedicating their time and skills to support those in need. Nicky Simpson is one such remarkable individual who has made an extraordinary impact through her volunteering efforts at St George's Hospital Charity.
“I love my days volunteering at St George’s Hospital Charity.”
Nicky's dedication to volunteering is evident in her words: "I love my days (and sometimes nights) volunteering at St George's. It's so varied." Nicky embraces the diversity of tasks presented to her.
One day she may be organising a bake sale, while the next she could be assisting with fundraising events. The unpredictability keeps her engaged and excited to help in any way she can.
Nicky finds great joy in interacting with a wide range of individuals during her time at the hospital, she said: "I meet so many interesting people which is a joy."
She also highlighted that the welcoming and fun-loving nature of the team has made her feel at home, and she cherishes the new friendships she has made along the way.
With a wealth of knowledge in textiles, design and teaching Nicky goes beyond traditional volunteering and extends her creative expertise to St George's Hospital through her involvement with Arts St George's. "As a textiles artist, designer, and teacher, I do some volunteering with Arts St George's as well, which I love." Explained Nicky.
By sharing her passion for art in a different environment, Nicky brings a unique dimension to patient care. Nicky said: "Spreading some creativity in a very different environment brings challenges but brings so much joy to patients and staff, but also me!"
