What is a special purpose fund?
Special Purpose Funds are special pots of money that staff can use to improve our hospitals. You can apply to use the money to make a difference for patients or staff, in line with the fund’s purpose. You can also help us increase the fund’s balance.

Funding criteria
To meet our strategic objectives, our funding falls into six charitable activities under which we list our funding criteria:
- Capital projects & environment
- Medical equipment
- Patient and family experience
- Staff welfare, development & education
- Medical research
- Awareness & Engagement
Charity funding is dependent on funding availability, competition for funds, and/or if there is a suitable Special Purpose Fund where the fund’s purpose allows for the funding requested.
