How to apply

Before you complete an application form, make sure you know: 

• Which fund you are applying for 
• If you are applying for money from an SPF, who the Fund Advisers are- you will need endorsement from one Fund Adviser for requests under £2,000, or from two for requests of £2,000 or more. We accept endorsements by signatures or via an email from the Fund Adviser endorsing your project

Ready to apply? There are different steps to follow depending on what you are applying for and what you will be purchasing: 

SPF GRANT REQUESTS UNDER £5,000

If your items can be purchased using SBS Oracle, the Trust's procurement system:

If your items can't be purchased using SBS Oracle: 

You have the option of paying for the items upfront yourself and claiming them back via our expenses portal. First, check with the relevant Fund Adviser (see above) that your request for reimbursement will be approved. It must be in line with the purposes of the fund. If your spending is approved, then you can make your purchase. Follow the instructions here to claim back your expenses.

 

If your items can't be purchased using SBS Oracle, and you are unable to pay for them upfront: 

Email charity.grants@stgeorges.nhs.uk and we will attempt to make alternate arrangements. 

SPF GRANT REQUESTS £5,000 AND OVER

Please note, in addition to the Fund Advisers, you will need signatures/ endorsements from the following:

• Divisional Finance Manager (always necessary)
• Divisional Director of Operations (always necessary)
• Trust Estates and Facilities (if relevant)
• Chief Information Officer (if you are purchasing or developing IT software/hardware)

If you are purchasing medical equipment, once you have submitted your application we will also contact the Medical Physics team to ask them to endorse your request.

RESEARCH GRANT REQUESTS

Please note, you will need to seek endorsement from:

• The relevant Fund Advisers (if applying for funds from an SPF)
• Research and Innovation Services, including a costings form 
• The relevant Divisional Chair at the Trust and/or Research Institute Director at the University

ALL OTHER REQUESTS

If you are applying for funding that is not from a Special Purpose Fund and is not in relation to research, please email charity.grants@stgeorges.nhs.uk with details of what you would like us to fund, and we will determine if there is a relevant fund you may be able to use. 

If a suitable fund is found, we will invite you to complete our application form:

You will need to secure endorsement from: 

• The relevant Divisional Director of Operations
• The relevant Divisional Finance Manager
• The Chief Transformation Officer

If you are purchasing medical equipment, once you have submitted your application we will also contact the Medical Physics team to ask them to endorse your request.

We accept Grant applications under £50,000 on a rolling basis throughout the year.  Applications under £50,000 can be approved by our charity Chief Executive.

Email your completed form to us at charity.grants@stgeorges.nhs.uk. We aim to acknowledge any requests within 10 working days. Please note, applications over £50,000 are subject to additional approval requirements. Please allow for additional time for approval when submitting larger applications.
