Neurology at St George’s is part of the Atkinson Morley Regional Neurosciences Centre, based in the Atkinson Morley Wing.  St George's are the regional tertiary centre for specialist inpatient and outpatient neurosciences servicing a population of 3 million people across South-West London, Surrey and Sussex. The team provide high quality and extremely specialist care for seriously ill patients.

The department works closely with St George’s University of London in the delivery of specialist teaching, education and research.

The department works closely with the other services within Neurosciences (Neurophysiology, Neuroradiology, Neuropsychology, Neuropsychiatry, Neurosurgery, Neuropathology, Neurorehabilitation and Chronic Pain) to deliver high quality, seamless care to all patients.

We aim to help provide  important equipment and facilities for medical staff and patients. We are focusing on what is ‘over and above’ normal provision – kit that can help our amazing teams help even more patients. It’s complex stuff, but your donation will – together with the help of others – achieve remarkable things.

Supporting our Neuro Services helps fund important equipment and facilities that are ‘over and above’ normal provision, as well as specialist teaching, education and research in order to ensure that our amazing teams can give the highest quality, most effective care to all patients. Your donation could contribute to a range of projects including:

  • Medical Equipment- such as Deep Brain Stimulation equipment for Neuro Surgery that can help reduce the systems of disorders such as Parkinson's, major depression and chronic pain.
  • Patient Experience- items such as portable video EEG monitoring devices that help patients with epilepsy record their seizures without staying in hospital. Not only does this enhance the patient experience but also keeps neurology beds free for those who require specialist nursing.
  • Education- helping to install new technology such as surgical microscopes sending live images of operations to large screens to help support student and trainee doctors education.
  • Staff support- providing weekly fruit baskets and comfort items over and above for staff who work in the department.

We aim to raise funds for the equipment, programmes and activities identified by the Trust as their most urgent needs. For any piece of equipment, activity or research project we are supporting, there is a small chance that we will raise more money than we need. If this happens, or if for any unforeseen reason we are unable to proceed as originally intended, gifts will be used to purchase equipment, support a range of projects, for staff development and training or to fund research, all of which will benefit the patients treated in our hospitals.
